Auditions at our music and singing school

Children who wish to take singing lessons at our music school must first take part in a free audition.

In this way, we would like to find out what musical level your child is at and whether they would be a good fit for our children's choir groups.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone.

Our School of Choral Art invites you to audition

We are always looking for talented and enthusiastic young singers. If your daughter or son is interested in renowned vocal training, we cordially invite you to our music school for a short audition.

We welcome newcomers as well as singers who already have some experience. The only prerequisite for participation in our children's choirs is the joy of singing. Your child will learn further skills, such as reading music through professional training.

What current choir members say

Who are we?

The Schule für Chormusik in Munich is a young choral school founded in 2014 under the direction of the renowned choral musician Maksim Matsiushenkau.

We provide children with an optimal environment for in-depth musical training in choral singing and offer training in music theory, ear training and voice training in addition to choral lessons.

Who sings in our choirs?

Our choirs are divided into three levels and currently consist of over 70 children aged 4 to 17.

Boys and girls sing together in our choirs and experience the potential and individuality of a broad vocal spectrum at an early age.

How do we achieve our high level?

Our young singers understand that talent is not an innate thing but is accessible to everyone through diligent practice and learning from mistakes.

We rehearse twice a week with our choirs. Professional support from our music teachers forms the basis for intensive and enjoyable learning.

And the effort pays off. Since the founding of the school for choral art, young singers have regularly participated in public concerts, festivals, choral tours, and other projects. In 2018, the concert choir of the choir school successfully took part in the international "World Peace Choral Festival" in Vienna and performed alongside the world-famous Vienna Boys' Choir. In 2021, children from the Munich School of Choral Art participated in the Tyrolean Festival and delivered a performance in Humperdinck's opera "Königskinder". Another significant project, in collaboration with the Bavarian State Opera for the second time, was the children's opera "Spring doch!" composed by Gordon Kampe. The opera premiered on December 9, 2022, and after a successful debut, it had seven more performances. In November 2022, the singers from the Munich School of Choral Art participated in the Bavarian Choir Competition and achieved great success, earning them a spot in the German Choir Competition held in Hanover in June 2023. They competed in the "Children's Choirs up to the age of 16" category and received a rating of "participated with great success." Additionally, they were nominated for third place in Germany.

How does the casting go?

The audition lasts around 15 minutes and is designed to give both you and your child, as well as our school, the opportunity to find out if we are a good fit for each other.

Your child will perform one or two prepared songs. If your child can play a musical instrument, you are welcome to bring it along for the audition.

Afterwards, our head teacher Maksim Matsiushenkau will do some singing exercises with your child to see if the voice is healthy, what pitches your child can reach and how good their concentration is.

If the audition is successful, we will offer your child a rehearsal period in our choir, where we can see if they really feel comfortable with us and can and want to become a choir child.
