Our School of Choral Art - who we are

The Schule für Chormusik in Munich is a young choral school founded in 2014 under the direction of the renowned choral musician Maksim Matsiushenkau.

We provide children with an optimal environment for in-depth musical training in choral singing and offer training in music theory, ear training and voice training in addition to choral lessons.

Who sings in our choirs?

Our choirs are divided into three levels and currently consist of over 70 children aged 4 to 17.

Boys and girls always sing together in our choirs and thus discover the potential and individuality of a broad vocal spectrum at an early age.

How do we achieve our high standards?

Our young singers understand that talent is not an innate thing but is accessible to everyone through diligent practice and learning from mistakes.

We rehearse twice a week with our choirs. Professional support from our music teachers forms the basis for intensive and enjoyable learning.

And the effort pays off. Since the founding of the school for choral art, young singers have regularly participated in public concerts, festivals, choral tours, and other projects. In 2018, the concert choir of the choir school successfully took part in the international "World Peace Choral Festival" in Vienna and performed alongside the world-famous Vienna Boys' Choir. In 2021, children from the Munich School of Choral Art participated in the Tyrolean Festival and delivered a performance in Humperdinck's opera "Königskinder". Another significant project, in collaboration with the Bavarian State Opera for the second time, was the children's opera "Jump!" composed by Gordon Kampe. The opera premiered on December 9, 2022, and after a successful debut, it had seven more performances. In November 2022, the singers from the Munich School of Choral Art participated in the Bavarian Choir Competition and achieved great success, earning them a spot in the German Choir Competition held in Hanover in June 2023. They competed in the "Children's Choirs up to the age of 16" category and received a rating of "participated with great success." Additionally, they were nominated for third place in Germany.
