Children’s and Youth Choir “Voices of Munich”
“Voices of Munich” is the children’s and youth choir of the Munich School of Choral Arts. Children and young people from the age of 9 receive advanced musical training through regular choir rehearsals and vocal training.
The focus is on developing a unified choral sound, vocal flexibility, musical independence and working on a diverse repertoire – from classical and sacred choral music to contemporary works.
As the school’s concert choir, the singers gain extensive stage experience through concerts, festivals, competitions, concert tours and professional productions. The choir also collaborates with renowned cultural institutions. International concert tours have taken “Voices of Munich” to Greece in 2024 and China in 2026.
Voices of Munich has received numerous awards at national and international choral competitions: in 2023, the choir won 3rd prize at the German Choir Competition; in 2024, it received two Gold Diplomas at the international Vox Lucensis Choir Competition in Lucca; and in 2025, it won two Gold Medals at the European Choir Games & Grand Prix of Nations in Aarhus (Denmark). In 2026, the choir added another Gold Medal in the Champions Competition at the World Choir Games in Helsingborg (Sweden).
Alongside its high musical standards, the ensemble is shaped by a strong sense of community, reliability and the joy of making music together.
Voice and Musical Expression
Children and young people continue to develop their voices, expand their vocal abilities and learn to consciously shape sound, expression and articulation.
Concerts, Competitions and International Projects
Regular performances, competitions, festivals and concert tours give the singers the opportunity to gain stage experience and make music together at a high level.
Part-Singing and Polyphony
Challenging multi-part repertoire develops musical independence, intonation and the ability to confidently contribute one’s own voice to the overall sound of the choir.
Musical Work in the Concert Choir
In the concert choir, the musical skills acquired in the younger choir groups are developed further. The singers work on challenging multi-part and polyphonic choral repertoire.
A particular focus is placed on conscious vocal development: intonation, breath control, articulation, sound production and vocal flexibility are continuously developed and directly integrated into the choir’s work.
At the same time, children and young people learn to work with increasing musical independence, listen to one another and take responsibility for the collective sound.
Concerts, competitions, festivals, opera productions and international projects are an integral part of the work of “Voices of Munich”, giving the singers regular opportunities to broaden their musical and stage experience.
Choir rehearsals take place on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
